⚫️ The Resident of The Furāt strong>As my life ebbs away, one more act to make things right,< strong>Before me appears illumination in its totality, The Lady of Light!< strong>“My Lady! Your slave Abbās kneels before you to narrate,< strong>The events that took place before sealed was my fate!< strong>My mother, your slave since birth raised me to be,< strong>For your children a servant, for this was God’s decree!< strong>So I grew up with this as my aim, and for my life its honour!< strong>For my mother it was her duty, and obligatory upon her! < strong>Until this day we did not meet, but today has finally arrived, < strong>By God in your service to protect Ḥusayn is how I’ve survived! <

Abbās stood like a lion, and defended the honour of Ḥusayn, < strong>Zaynab, and your children, tell me can I face Sayyid al-Kawnayn?! < strong>My Lady! al-Jabbār, has granted me the station of Bāb ad-Duʿāʾ

Do you think He’ll grant me a wish in my barzakh for Rajʿah?! < strong>To be able to prevent and stop, upon my Master Ḥusayn, the Balāʾ?!< strong>That is to befall his blessed existence, upon the plains of Karbalāʾ! < strong>Tis better I am cut into pieces and then scattered,< strong>Than to watch the heart and soul of Zaynab shattered!< strong>My Lady! I am so embarrassed to face you, how could I let it be?!< strong>Please do not look upon my arms, and please do not tell ʿAlī!< strong>O! How is it I can face my father, knowing that I could not, < strong>Save Ḥusayn and protect him, facing such a horrible lot! < strong>At the banks of the Furāt, I stood to fetch for the children water,< strong>It tempted me to drink from it, whilst at the tents was your daughter?! < strong>So I took my way and fought, to be able to their thirst, quench,< strong>But cut my arms did they, and the waterskin did my blood drench! < strong>Arrows they threw, and behind did they my head club!< strong>Concealed like the cowards they were, behind the shrub!< strong>On the ground, I could no longer face, the Āl of Ṣāḥib at-Tanzīl!< strong>My Lady, I could not even wet their parched lips, as their Kafīl!< strong>But what will never allow me to, in your presence raise my head,< strong>Was when Ḥusayn’s head was raised, and upon him horses did tread!< strong>The earth quaked, the seas roared, and the sun ceased to shine! < strong>Creation not able to bear, what was the wrath of The Divine!< strong>Perhaps it was for the best, that my eye was pierced with an arrow!< strong>It prevented me from seeing, the ladies dragged in ropes tomorrow!< strong>And so My Lady, upon this bank, alone will the pieces of my body reside.< strong>For nowhere do I have a place, for water for Ḥusayn I couldn’t provide! < strong>I am who I am, the son of the Brother of Ṣādiq and Amīn! < strong>Slave of Ḥusayn, and my mother your servant Umm al-Banīn!” < strong>“My son, raise your head, for upon you I will always look joyfully!< strong>For like ʿAlī to Muḥammad, you have fulfilled your duty loyally!< strong>For generations, and even for lifetimes for an-Nās,< strong>They will never for forget your name, my son ʿAbbās! < strong>Do you not know, that over you, and your station the martyrs swoon?! < strong>For your maqām is amongst them, the highest, ‘O Hāshimite’s Moon! < strong>The place where your arms were, God, for you has placed wings!< strong>So take your place appointed by Him, your place amongst kings! < strong>Let me take you to where my Father awaits you, at the blessed pond!< strong>There I know you will wait to drink, because of with Ḥusayn your bond!< strong>But know it is he who waits for your arrival, and to with you reunite!< strong>For Ḥusayn, you in life and in the immaterial, of his eye’s it’s delight! < strong>As for your mother, I swear by The One who will avenge the Saqṭ of my Janīn (miscarriage)!< strong>That within her milk, she instilled love for me, my khādimah Umm al-Banīn! < strong>From heaven, I witnessed the joy in Ḥusayn, the very day you were born!< strong>For you were sent as a gift to ʿAlī, from al-Bārī, from the side of His Throne!< strong>Do not be shy in front of ʿAlī, for with him you will stand on the Ṣirāṭ!< strong>For you fulfilled his wish, and your oath, ‘O Resident of the Furāt!”<
